The APHRB is a professional association that brings together owners and managers of restaurants and hotels, a name that includes any site that welcomes and accommodates customers (travelers, tourists ...).

It gathers about a hundred members led by a board currently chaired by Mr. Pierre ZOUNGRANA.

As you can imagine, Tourism cannot be conceived without hotels and restaurants, associated with travel agencies, car rental agencies, transport companies, association of guides.

At the dawn of independences, the necessity of accommodation and catering has obliged the actors of this domain which is ours to organize themselves. Thus the need to create an association was born and around 1972 the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs of Burkina Faso was created, headed by President OUEDRAOGO Nabyouré responsible for the Hotel Independence of Ouagadougou replaced by Mr. OUEDRAOGO Pascal of the Hotel Entente Ouagadougou, current Secretary General, then Mr. OUEDRAOGO Paul of the Independence Hotel followed by Mr. DERME Abdoulaye Abdoulaye of the Riviera Hotel and currently Mr. ZOUNGRANA Pierre, promoter of Pacific Hotel.

It should be noted that it is under President ZOUNGRANA that the Association des Hôteliers et Restaurateurs du Burkina (AHRB), which is in fact the grouping of promoters that the structure found its name, Association Patronale des Hôteliers et Restaurateurs du Burkina (APHRB). It had 189 members in 13 regions including the cities of Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora, Fada N'gourma, Tenkodogo, Koupéla, Kaya, Ouahigouya, Koudougou, Po, Dori, Dédougou, Kombissiri, Manga and Toma.

The objective of the Association is to contribute to the promotion of the hotel and restaurant industry in Burkina Faso and to increase the service of tourism in Burkina Faso as well as to

better and greater accessibility to the various tourist sites. In order to do so, it promotes, in collegiality with regional associations, the implementation of training activities for specialized human resources (development, retraining). It responds, among other things by producing relevant information, to the needs of its members in the industry, restaurants and tourism by providing leading-edge services.

In order to do so, the APHRB works for the benefit of its members to :

  • Promote the development of hotel and restaurant activities in a harmonious manner;
  • Promote the interests of hotel and restaurant promoters in Burkina Faso;
  • Promote all measures likely to develop the hotel and restaurant sector;
  • To ensure and promote the training of members in the hotel and restaurant business;
  • To publish and distribute publications on the sector;
  • Make professional contacts with other national and international, governmental or non-governmental organizations.

Difficulties to know :

  • The high taxation, especially of VAT, which makes it difficult to compete in the space;
  • The high cost of the visa more than 100 000 F CFA;
  • Electricity is one of the highest prices in the region;
  • The impenetrable banks;
  • Insecurity;

The health crisis linked to COVID-19 ;

Difficulty with the Mayors of the installation sites;

Unfair competition.

We are pleased with the good collaboration with the Ministry of Trusteeship, the Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Assistance to Organizations, the Maison de l'Entreprise, the National Council of Employers. Also the integration of our structure at the regional and international level through the Federation of Employers' Organizations of Tourism and Hospitality of the UEMOA space.
