On Saturday, February 1, 2025, the mutual association of the Government Information Service (SIG) organized a tourist excursion in the Plateau-Central region.
The itinerary included visits to the Mausoleum of Naaba Oubri and the Laongo Granite Sculpture Site.
Naaba Oubri, founder of the Kingdom of Ouagadougou, holds an important place in Mossi history. Various accounts exist regarding his burial site. However, for the inhabitants of Oubriyaoghin, a village located 7 km from Ziniaré, Naaba Oubri was laid to rest in their locality. In his memory, a mausoleum resembling a traditional Moaga royal court was built there.
At Laongo, visitors admired the stunning granite sculptures crafted by sculptors from diverse backgrounds during a symposium. These works of art are carved directly into the rock, giving them a unique originality, hence the name "Laongo Granite Sculptures".
The visit was honored by the presence of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Mr. Pingwende Gilbert Ouédraogo.
The Minister praised this initiative by the SIG staff, which, according to him, strengthens team bonds, fosters social cohesion within the SIG, and enhances a positive work environment. Furthermore, he urged all staff members to uphold professionalism in information processing to ensure better visibility of government actions.
The visit concluded with a moment of relaxation and exchange, highlighted by an award ceremony recognizing the three best-performing staff members of the year.
The event ended in an atmosphere of conviviality and satisfaction, marking a successful first edition of this SIG staff outing.
The date is already set for next year, with new experiences to come, supported by the technical expertise of Faso Tourisme!
