The General Directorate of Faso Tourisme organized, from February 13 to 14, 2025, in Ouagadougou, a reflection workshop on the revitalization of the Salon International du Tourisme et de l’Hôtellerie de Ouagadougou (SITHO).
This meeting brought together around sixty participants, including officials from the Ministry in charge of Tourism and Faso Tourisme, former executives of the Office National du Tourisme Burkinabè (ONTB), as well as representatives of the private tourism and hospitality sector.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mrs. Aline CARAMA/FARMA, Mission Officer at the Ministry in charge of Tourism, representing the Secretary General. In her speech, Mrs. CARAMA highlighted the importance of SITHO as a showcase for promoting Burkina Faso's tourism potential. She also emphasized the need to integrate innovations and strategies adapted to the new challenges of the tourism and hospitality sector.
The representative of the Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of Tourism expressed her wish that this workshop would be a favorable framework for innovative and relevant proposals to improve the organization of SITHO 2025 and future editions.
"I invite you to engage in open and fruitful discussions to find innovative and impactful ideas to make SITHO more professional."
During these two days of discussions, the participants conducted a review of past SITHO editions and identified challenges to be addressed, proposed improvements to enhance SITHO’s attractiveness, developed strategies to mobilize stakeholders and partners, suggested innovations for a more impactful and sustainable event
Thanks to the participants' contributions, concrete pathways have been identified to make SITHO an essential event for tourism promotion in the West African subregion.
